About us

What is TATE?

TATE is a professional association that serves the interests of teachers of English throughout Tasmania.

Membership of TATE is open to any person or organisation.

What does TATE do?

TATE has an important advocacy and advisory role, which benefits all teachers of English in the state. It provides professional learning opportunities that keep members informed of curriculum initiatives, current theory and ideas related to the teaching of English. TATE is strongly committed to engagement in critically informed dialogue about education.

Why you should belong to TATE

TATE has a long history of providing high quality professional learning and support to teachers. Teachers at all stages of their career receive benefit from their membership of the association.

TATE is continually working towards improving the status of English teachers and the teaching of English in Tasmania. For the Association to act on behalf of all teachers of English, it is vital that there is a strong membership.

TATE has a role in helping English teachers understand the significant ways in which their specialised knowledge, skill and understanding can support innovative practice in curriculum, teaching and assessment.
